6 months gone mac
February 17th marked 6 months since I went mac. I’m not going to get into the reasons behind my switch since I find this to be very subjective. Just go with whatever. Software I’m using is all I want to put here.
OS - Tiger (hope to go Leopard soon. I really need the virtual desktops)
Web browser - Safari (for normal browsing), Firefox (for development)
IM - Adium, Skype
IRC - Colloquy
Media - iTunes, VLC
Photos - iPhoto
IDE - Eclipse
Office Suite - Mac Office 2008 (I have to admit that M$ got something right with office)
PDA Sync - Missing Sync (yah yah I know, windows mobile
)
Virtualization - VMWare Fusion
What are you using on your mac?
Still an avid & die hard PC user and lover but I am on the Mac most nights editing film & half the time working on graphics.
For film & video work: Final Cut Pro
For graphics: combo of iPhoto & PS CS3
Playing Music: iTunes & VLC
Website design: Mac adaptable Adobe Premier Suite
Music production and graphic design PC all day it’s faster, more efficient and can connect to most live instruments without the ups & downs of configuration Mac demands.
I give the Mac two thumbs up for security (no viruses) and for their immaculate no-crush platforms…but am still a PC guy, lol!
I have to admit that the mac has thoroughly grown on me; though iam not quite as smug as mac heads tend to be (yeah yeah i know, its only a matter of time)
That missing sync…been trying to figure out another way of synching my motorola q with my mac bila spending $40, but it doesn’t look promising…if you see anything holla.
Meanwhile, i added a data plan on my phone, and silly networks in the US still hog tie the phone to the co. the manufacturer designed it for. So even if my Q is unlocked, i cant input the settings to hop onto the Tmobile network just coz the Q was made for ATT. The Internet configuration defaults to ATT’s which cant be removed?! Sigh. Yani i could get online on Safcom with my Q with no hassle….here its just soo aggravating. (oops did i just let out a little rant?)
You will love leopard me thinks.
PS (Loved the posts/rants on your wireless provider saga, i hp things are good on that front.)
Hey,
@AfroM: enyewe once you go mac its difficult to look back.
To be honest I’d never heard of the motorola q till your post (
). The thing is, when I got my mac I really searched around for a free mac active sync but nothing. In the end I just forked out the $40. I haven’t been searching since but if I come across anything I’ll definitely hola your way.
About the wireless saga, thx. I’m still evaluating this butterfly thing and will do a full review of it next week. So far things are working ok.
Never been a mac user but this one caught my attention…

welcome to macintosh.
ok i cheat. i has always been with mac since forever, cant afford a gutsy mac book for now, that is coming soon, for now i am content with my mac mini, adobe CS III being tool of choice…
m$ got it right with office, on leopard, [do, do get leopard, worth the money, definitely!] still wondering how sacrilegious adding xp to it using boot camp would be……
oh, got the token xp/xubuntu running laptop which might show up in your tracker…..
